v PADI

Lanta Diver now own and run two dive boats that daily take our guests to the various divesites. MV Lanta diver 1 (previously known as Choksomboon 3) is a 23 meter long custom built dive boat which is a eminently suitable for day trips and live aboards. A separate dive deck, two sundecks and a large deck in the shade provide lots of space for
divers to relax on before, between and after dives. After four years of constant improvements on what was from the beginning a jolly good dive boat Lanta Diver 1 is now a favourite amongst many of our guests who return year after year. All little extras and comforts which are normally only found on live aboards
are there also for our daytrip guests. Double compressors below deck enables us to fill tanks without having to change the actual tank, just slip out of your gear and slip back into the same gear after the surface interval. After the first dive you just head straight for the lunch table and take your pick amongst the three to four different courses served, (or why not have a bit of each!), forget about the
standard food flasks, on Lanta Diver 1 we have two cooks who turn the boat in to one of the best restaurants on the island. These lovely ladies also make sure you get a full cooked breakfast western style on the way out and a good portion of fruit on the way home. Non divers have actually asked us if it is OK to join the boat just for the food!

Safety (Both boats)
In the unlikely event of an accident we are obviously fully prepared, we have more than all required safety equipment on board. Large oxygen tanks with demand as well as free flow valves. VHF radio, lifejackets and first aid equipment. Nobody would be happier than us if we never have to use any of all this but we can assure you it is well maintained and regularly checked. We are in radio contact with speed boat operators and never more than 2 hours from the Hyperbaric Chambers in Krabi and Phuket. Over and above this Lanta Diver Co Ltd is also a sponsor of the  Phuket Hyperbaric Chamber
(the recompression chamber). This ensures our divers direct access to the chamber completely free of charge. All diving and non-diving guests are also covered by a fully comprehensive PADI insurance (Horsell International Co Ltd, Sydney) this insurance covers everything from hyperbaric treatment, medical bills and emergency evacuation. As this comprehensive insurance is by now means a regular thing at all dive centers around the world (in Thailand it is a good idea to ask to see a valid insurance policy, unfortunately many
dive centers have no, or insufficient coverage) we strongly suggest that you take out a DAN (divers alert network) policy before embarking on any extensive dive travels.  All our staff are familiar with the safety equipment and are medically first aid trained and updated.

Another boat
In December 2001 we bought our second boat, which we had had our eyes on for a couple of years. Macha Nou is a 17 meter long dive boat and we use her for both day trips and as a school boat. Having Macha Nou has enabled us to offer our guests alternative dive sites each day. Also we can now carry on our day trips when Lanta Diver 1 is on live aboards. As Lanta Diver 1 had a reputation

for serving the best food on the island we obviously could not acquire another boat without installing a kitchen. So now Macha Nou also has her own kitchen and her own cook and the food has not, despite the high expectations, left anybody disappointed!
The safety devices and equipment on Macha Nou are exactly the same as those on Lanta Diver 1.
