Lanta Old Town

On the east side of the island you will find Lanta Old Town, a lovely little village missed by many as it located on the opposite side of the island away from most resorts and beaches (on Lanta, so far, all resorts bar one are located on the west side of the island). Every time we visit Old Town we say to ourselves that we should come here more often. The main village street is flanked by beautiful old Chinese style wooden houses and there are a handful of restaurants, all of them with great views over the water. On the west coast of the island you get a feeling that you are looking out over an endless ocean but here on the east side you wonder what there is to be found amongst all the small islands squeezed in between Koh Lanta and the mainland. If you carry on south from Lanta Old Town and cross the small little bridge you will find yourself in the village of Lemglang which is a small Sea Gypsy village. A stroll through Lemglang is a fascinating experience and a far cry from the hustle and bustle of Saladan.
