Klong Khong and Klong Nin beaches
Let?s carry on south and we are now about 8 kilometers from the northern tip of the island and Saladan. Here is Klong Khong beach and a few kilometers further south there is Klong Nin beach. The beaches here become more peaceful and most resorts are cheaper and more basic, although a few high class resorts have also opened during the past few years. The beaches are still very nice although you should look out for them at low tide: there are stones and rocks making bathing and swimming a tad hazardous. That said, some parts of the beaches are still perfect for swimming. Just watch where the locals go! There are fewer choices in terms of restaurants than further north, but all the resorts have good places to eat and there are also a lot of small family run restaurants both along the road and the beaches.
One thing that has changed dramatically over the past few years are the roads: just three years ago the red and dusty roads that were full of pot holes deterred many from venturing down the island, now there are tarmac roads from Saladan all the way down to Pimalai on Kantiang beach on the western side of the island.
