Klong Dao Beach
All accommodation, hotels, resorts and tourist services are located along the beaches on the west coast of the island. The most northern beach is Klong Dao which has always been one of our personal favourites. Klong Dao is a three kilometer long beach which has become more of a family haunt so the late night party goers will do better to stay further down the island. The beach slopes very gradually down to the sea and you can, at times, have a long paddle out in order to get wet above your knees! At low tide the beach is perfect for jogging and is most suitable for baby strollers and carts. Around sunset you will find many volleyball nets with locals and tourists playing side by side; the local football teams also have tournaments on the beach from time to time. Although this is the beach with the most resorts, you are sure to experience the feeling that you have large parts of the beach all to yourself, even during the peak season when there is not a vacant bungalow or hotel room to be found on the island. You will not find loud music and girlie bars on Klong Dao but there are lots of good restaurants where you can enjoy a drink and watch the fantastic sunsets.
