Lanta diver has three boats, each one taking our guests to the dive sites around Koh Lanta and Koh Phi Phi. Obviously all our boats are equipped with full safety equipment: large oxygen tanks with free flow as well as demand valves. We have ship to ship and ship to shore VHF radios, life vests and first aid equipment. Over and above the normal safety equipment found on all our boats, Lanta Diver is also a sponsor for the hyperbaric chambers in Phuket providing our guests with direct access to both the chambers in Phuket without any deposits or advance payments. Our guests are also covered by accident insurance*.
M/V Lanta Diver 1
M/V Lanta Diver 1 is a 23 meter long custom built dive boat suitable for day trips as well as having the ability to double as a liveaboard. A separate dive deck, two sun decks and a large shaded area provide ample space for relaxing before, between and after diving. Despite the fact that Lanta Diver 1 (along with our reliable and very capable Captain Sin) is now doing her 10th season with us, we can still say that she is a completely new boat. A few years ago we changed the entire keel and hull and the following year we changed the rest. Add to this new engines, gear boxes and all the other little things there is now not as much as a screw left from the boat we once bought! It might have been easier to buy a new boat, but by doing it this way - one step at a time - we have now got the boat exactly as we want it based on the experience of our captain and what we have picked up in knowledge during our years on Lanta.
This boat has turned in to a bit of a favourite amongst our returning guests and all the comforts usually only found on a liveaboard are now available for all our day trips as well. Double compressors below decks enables us to fill your tank after the first dive which saves you having to mess about changing tanks. Instead, you can whip upstairs to help yourself to free soft drinks and choose between the three different lunch dishes (or you can have them all)! We do not use plastic thermo flasks with lukewarm food on Lanta Diver. Rather, the very clever lady chef on the boat has turned her in to one of the best restaurants on the island. The cook also makes sure you get a full breakfast on the way out and fresh fruit or fruit salad on the way back. If that isn?t enough, on the return journey from Hin Daeng she also makes pancakes or other hot snacks.
Udom Porn, the same size as M/V Lanta Diver 1, is our second boat. This is primarily a day trip boat with a large dive platform as well as a large shaded deck upstairs. On Udom Porn we also have a great kitchen and lady chef. Captain Cam steers the boat and, together with his staff, makes sure all our guests are happy and have a comfortable journey.
Boat Nr 3
Our third boat is new for this season. Our new boat is a 36 foot fibreglass Steppa Craft with double 200
horsepower Yamaha outboard engines. With 12 divers on board, Boat Nr 3 can cruise at 25 knots which means we can now offer day trips by speedboat as well as providing private charters on request.
As you can see, our three boats provide us with unique flexibility on Lanta. We never have to cancel any trips even if M/V Lanta Diver 1 is off serving as a liveaboard.
*Even though we provide a complete insurance packet for our divers, this is by no means common all over the world, so if you are out on a diving journey it is a good idea to get a DAN (Divers Alert Network) before leaving home.
