Summer House
Staying on Klong Dao beach and just move a few meters to the south we come to Summer House which is a nice resort with about the same standards and size as Noble House. All bungalows are air-conditioned and apart from the two family bungalows (called Minisuites) they each have a double bed and a single bed as standard and there is room for one more extra bed. The family bungalows have two double beds and there is space for one more extra bed. New this season are the two family rooms situated over the restaurant with a magnificent view of the Indian Ocean and the sunset over the Phi Phi islands. Both the family rooms have two double beds. The reason for the resorts choice of two double beds rather than one double bed and one bunk bed remains one of the mysteries of Thai interior design.
The Summer House restaurant has never really been top notch, but for the upcoming season 2007/2008 the restaurant has been rebuilt and has also been completed with a new kitchen. With a good chef this might turn into a new favourite eating place. Upon arrival at Summer House you will normally be greeted by Long, an interesting lady. At first you may well think she has had barbed wire for breakfast, but it does not take more than a few hours before she is declared a saint and it is not uncommon that check out is accompanied by tears.
