Southern, previously known as Southern Lanta, is one of the oldest resorts on Lanta and what strikes us is that the owner, Khun Suntorn, is tireless in his aspirations to improve his resort every year. As a consequence of this what we say now about last season will probably be even better this coming season. Southern is located on Klong Dao beach and has always been a role model when it comes to standards and professionalism. Southern is no longer the most luxurious resort on the island, but has always been a paragon for how to run a resort. For many years the restaurant was fine, but since they built the new beach bar and seafood corner Southern has moved up high on our ?restaurant guide list?. There are many types of bungalows at Southern, standard, superior, beachview and family types. They also have a couple of connecting bungalows. All bungalows have A/c, cable TV, hot water, minibar and safety deposit box. Wire less is available all over the resort. Southern is also a great place for a conferences as there are large modern conference facilities at the resort. On the beach by Southern Lanta Jack has his booking office and you can book flights, train and bus tickets as well as fishing, elephant riding, kayaking, sailing etc. A few years ago Jack was nominated in an article by a Swedish newspaper as ?the best travel agent in the world?. Might not be 100% true but he is a great guy, and very honest, if he thinks something is not good, he will tell you and recommend something else.
