DR Lanta
The name DR Lanta comes from the name of the owner, Mr Dam Rong and has nothing to do with a doctor as many people think. DR Lanta was, together with Summer House, next door, (which is owned by Mr Dam Rong?s brother Khun Somjot) built seven years ago and has changed appearance a few times and every time for the better. This summer (2007) the restaurant has been rebuilt and also here there are some very nice hotel rooms have been built above the restaurant. The bungalows at DR are all very nice and have A/c, hot water, TV, fridge and their own terrace. There are three different types, ?ac?, ?minisuite? and ?family? bungalows. The ac bungalows have a double bed or two single beds, the minisuites have a double bed and a single bed and there is room for one more extra bed and the family bungalows (only three family bungalows, one located beachfront and the other two are poolfront) have two double beds and there is room for one more extra bed. The DR Lanta pool is one of the largest on Lanta. The restaurant has varied a bit over the years, but has always been quite good. I suppose the most negative thing which can be said about it is that the menu is so extensive you risk starving to death while trying to read it. That said, however, they usually actually have everything on the menu, rather unusual in Thailand?.
